On behalf of our esteemed directors, Catalina Garza and Ernesto Quenedit, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your interest in our dance program. We are honored to introduce the exceptional individuals who contribute to the excellence of Quenedit Ballet School, located in San Antonio, TX.
Our visionary artistic directors, Catalina and Ernesto, are passionate and dedicated educators committed to sharing their profound love for dance with every student. Since establishing the school in San Antonio in 2010, they have cultivated a program that nurtures students in a safe and supportive environment. Their unwavering focus on strength, flexibility, and musicality has fostered remarkable progress among our dancers, and we take great pride in celebrating their achievements.
Catalina Garza
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Founder
Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Catalina Garza began her ballet training at age eight and went on to enjoy a distinguished professional career in Mexico and the United States. She performed with Ballet de Monterrey, Mexico’s National Company of Dance, and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, dancing leading roles and works including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, and Don Quixote, as well as contemporary repertoire and international tours.
After years on the professional stage, Catalina discovered an equally meaningful passion in teaching and developing the next generation of dancers. As co-founder of Quenedit Dance, she brings her professional experience, high standards, and love of the art form into everything she does. She especially loves teaching preschool dancers and watching their confidence, creativity, and love for dance begin to grow.
Outside the studio, Catalina enjoys gardening, coloring, and spending time with her family. She and her husband and co-founder, Ernesto Quenedit, have shared 30 years of marriage and are proud parents of their son, who is now an engineer.
Ernesto Quenedit
Artistic Director & Founder
Born in Havana, Cuba, Ernesto Quenedit graduated from the National School of Ballet in 1984 as both a dancer and teacher, training under the legendary Alicia Alonso. He went on to become a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Cuba, performing leading roles in classics such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Coppélia, and Sleeping Beauty while touring throughout Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
His professional career later took him to Mexico and the United States, where he performed with the National Ballet of Monterrey, Mexico’s National Company of Dance, and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, among other companies.
Today, Ernesto’s greatest passions are teaching and choreography. He loves creating new works, developing dancers’ artistry, and helping young performers discover their individuality on stage. In 2011, he received the Youth America Grand Prix Outstanding Choreographer Award.
Away from the studio, Ernesto enjoys the quiet of the morning, usually accompanied by a good espresso, and time with his family.
